Art New England Dec 2007, Review of Start the Art! PDAI's Public Art Projects
Peace Dale Arts Initiative achievements include:
Peace Dale's Annual Peace Fair
- A celebration of peace by connecting with people, arts and crafts, live music, and games.
The South County Art Trail Map
- A brochure that depicts PDAI member’s galleries and studio spaces.
South Kingstown Public Art Projects
- Murals, sculptures, and now a glass mosaic map of the bike path are all public art works made possible through efforts of PDAI working alongside the Peace Dale Neighborhood Revitalization Committee and The United Way.
Networking
- PDAI brings artists together with other artists, grant money, exhibition prospects, all in an effort to create more professional opportunity and exposure for local artists.
Studio Space
- PDAI is continuously seeking affordable studio, gallery, and workspace for use by local artists.
Even though South County is rapidly growing, the arts need extra support to thrive. Experienced and budding artists alike know the challenges of being a successful professional artist.
By advocating for artists of all kinds, the PDAI enriches the lives of local South County residents by providing events such as live music, exhibitions, visual arts, and films. What would life be like without these things? Lucky are we to live by the ocean, but how would it be if people weren't able to express and share with others how it makes them feel?
If you value creative expression, and you wish to encourage and experience it within your community, consider joining the Peace Dale Arts Initiative. Together let’s make sure South County grows into something beautiful!
